Silverstone, the home of British Motor Racing, has partnered with Halo Solutions to maximise its communications across all events at its venue so they run more safely and efficiently over the next few years, including this week’s British Grand Prix on Sunday 18th July 2021.
The Halo System will be used by Silverstone to connect all the different agencies on site to one system, for the first time. With ‘multi-agency-logging’ enabled, all agencies get their own, filtered view of what their ground team are reporting, can share those details between each other when they need to and SIlverstone gets one overall top down view – all in realtime. Through the system images, including CCTV, will be put directly in the hands of those who need it, maximising the effectiveness of all response teams and dramatically reducing response times.
Silverstone’s Head of Security, Peter Downing, says: “Silverstone has a long history of providing the best motorsport experience and entertainment across a wide range of events. Since our first race on the 2nd October 1948 when we welcomed an estimated 10,000 people at the first British Grand Prix we have prided ourselves on the safety and security of fans, spectators, competitors, staff and volunteers. Our events are bigger than ever and as the business has continued to evolve we have been looking for a suitable software platform to support the management of our larger public events.
“The Halo software has so much to offer on the back of an experienced team who know the tools the event industry needs to ensure the running of an event safely and efficiently. We’re excited to partner with the Halo team to deliver this at our events this year, particularly, as we invite fans back into our Venue.”
Silverstone’s delivery teams and contractors can record incidents using Halo in real-time, with award winning, user-friendly mobile and desktop applications. Halo’s key benefits include: an un-editable audit trail for all incidents and tasks and simplified data entry with clearly defined forms ensuring only essential information is entered including functionality to use voice typing and include images. All agencies, including remote access for Emergency Services can use the multi-agency dashboard allowing external partners controlled access, resource tracking, mapping and the functionality to digitise security checks, ensuring operational compliance against bio standards, H&S legislation, risk assessments and safety protocols. Halo Removes the need for all safety check paperwork and capturing where, when, who, what and how exactly any check was done, including recurring checks, saving time and money on paperwork, enhancing the audit trail, the safety standards and keeping the radio clear for important messages.
Halo Solutions’ CEO and Co-Founder, Lloyd Major, adds: “There really is something magical about Silverstone and Formula 1, especially for myself, being a fan of Formula 1 for as long as I can remember. Seeing Halo come to life behind the scenes, supporting the wonderful people who put this event on, keeping everyone safe, is always a humbling experience and that is especially true when working on events of this magnitude. It is only amplified by the significance of being on the threshold of our emergence from Coronavirus, after such a tough year for everyone, the huge excitement and overwhelming relief of seeing events returning to the calendar, especially of this size is terrific. The weekend of the British Grand Prix will see the sunset on Covid restrictions and usher in a second half of the year for our wonderful events and sports industries to start to recover and the evidence we’re trusted to capture, on this scale and under this spotlight is why Halo is the system of choice to provide trusted, intelligent communications software.”
Venue and event managers need information in real-time to enable rapid and effective decision-making and they also require robust post-event reporting to support analysis of operational performance, the reporting of incidents during and post-event can be complicated, inefficient and often delayed when applications and tools are spread across various platforms like spreadsheets, whatsapp and radios. More and more venues are now starting to turn away from these and towards issue management systems.
