How Halo Helps Silverstone Log over 3,500 Incidents at the British Grand Prix
Introduction
Silverstone Circuit is the home of the British Grand Prix and one of the best-known motorsport venues in the world. Its 2025 British Grand Prix weekend drew a record 500,000 spectators through the gates — the biggest Formula 1 crowd in the circuit’s history — alongside the teams, drivers, media, medical, security and safety personnel needed to run a live, multi-agency event of that scale safely.
Silverstone has worked with Halo Solutions since the 2019. What started as event-day incident logging for the British Grand Prix has grown into year-round use of The Halo System across Silverstone’s full events calendar.
The Challenge
Running the British Grand Prix means coordinating a huge and varied team — staff, volunteers and contractors — across a multi-day, mass-attendance event where incidents range from the routine to the serious. Silverstone needed:
- A single, reliable way to log everything happening on the ground, from minor signage and barrier requests through to medical and crowd-related incidents
- Accurate, timestamped records of decisions and actions taken in the moment, across a large and mixed team
- A clear enough record after the event to review what happened and identify learnings for the following year
The Solution
During the British Grand Prix, all of Silverstone’s staff, volunteers and contractors use HaloApp to log anything and everything they see on the ground, while HaloDashboard gives the operations team a single, real-time view to manage and respond to incidents as they come in. Throughout the record-breaking 2025 race weekend alone, the team logged over 3,500 incidents — from minor clarification requests to medical and crowd-related incidents — all captured in one place rather than scattered across separate systems and channels.
That combination of real-time logging and a single shared record has changed how Silverstone’s operations team works across the event, and the same approach now runs across their events calendar year-round, not just the Grand Prix weekend.
Halo has massively changed the way we work across the British Grand Prix. This year, we logged over 3,500 incidents, ranging from very minor signage and barrier requests through to medical and crowd-related incidents. Halo has helped us capture everything in one place and has significantly improved the way we manage and respond to incidents across the event.
It has been invaluable for recording incidents and keeping accurate timestamps of decisions and actions taken throughout the event. It has also been incredibly useful post-event, providing us with a clear record of what happened and allowing us to easily review and identify learnings to help us prepare for the following year.
The team at Halo are always willing to listen to any ideas or suggestions we have. They are genuinely open to feedback and, where possible, have made updates and improvements to the system based on our suggestions. It feels like a real partnership rather than simply using a piece of software.
